Guava Chutney Delight


Guayaba Delight


Guayaba or guava is a tropical fruit rich in vitamin c, e and minerals. It has a distinctive earthy taste which makes this fruit suitable to accompany main dishes or to eat simply as a dessert. This sweet chutney has an exotic flavor, a great addition to breakfast or snacks.




Serves 6

Ingredients:

2 cups of white or pink ripe guavas
1/2 cup of “panela” (cane sugar) or brown sugar
2 tsp of orange peel
2 tsp orange leaves
2 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp coriander
2 tsp camu camu
1 apple
1 1/2 cups water
1 tsp fresh ginger
1 tsp ghee
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Pinch of salt



Procedure:

Cut the guavas in 4 and take the seeds out. Put all of the ingredients except for the lemon juice in a pan and cook in the stove for 15 minutes, or until the cane sugar forms a syrup. Let it cool. Squeeze the juice of the 1/2 lemon into the chutney and serve. The chutney can be refrigerated for 5 days.
